The Best Geek Vacations: The South Pole, Chernobyl, Tatooine
Sidi Driss Hotel Welcome to the underground dwellings that were Luke Skywalker’s Tatooine home in Star Wars. They’re in the burg of Matmata, Tunisia, and are now lodging geekotourists. What else is there to do? Day-trip over to the nearby town of Gabes, which — despite what you may have heard — is not a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Tataooine was featured in a wired magazine as one of the top 10 geek destinations featuring Chernobyl and the south pole, as temple of the star wars series, this southern little ten is gaining popularity, not just because of its sands and underground villages, but almost Georges Lucas, frankly I wish we could give him a national medal.
It seem a little bizarre, but I want to just to clarify that beside the Star Wars decors, Tataooine is lovely sandy place where you can have great food and excellent trips and camel riding, … you can go there even if you don’t really like to be a star knight.
